Item Details
Description
A 2009 Gibson Les Paul Custom electric guitar, serial #CS92972, in blue burst sparkle finish. Owned and stage-played by Ace Frehley, guitarist and founding member of the legendary rock band KISS. Known for his Space Ace stage persona, aggressive and melodic playing style, and guitars that bellow smoke as he shreds a solo. As seen in the Ace Freley "Fire and Water" music video, featuring Paul Stanley.
This guitar is one of Ace’s stunt guitars, rigged for a light and smoke show in the neck pickup cavity and routed out to accept the necessary internal components (not tested). A metal plate covers the entire back of the guitar and is installed with screws. Otherwise, the guitar is a functional, playable instrument as-used by Ace on stage.
A Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom made to Ace Frehley’s specs with a blue burst sparkle finish, chrome hardware, a 24.75” scale length neck with a 22 fret ebony fretboard, mother of pearl block inlay markers, two chrome-covered pickups in the middle and bridge positions, multi-ply binding, clear knobs, an Ace Les Paul truss rod cover, and the usual Gibson custom headstock veneer.
Includes a certificate of authenticity signed by Frehley which bears the serial number of the guitar, a copy of Frehley’s Space Invader CD, a set list and advertisement card for his October 25 + 26th 2011 performances at B.B. King’s in NYC, five photographs of Ace using the guitar onstage (two signed), two photos of the guitar next to Paul Stanley’s broken mirror Ibanez Iceman during the "Fire and Water" video shoot, an additional signed photo of Ace playing the guitar with the smoke effect engaged, and a dressing room sign.
Also includes Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case, with two additional photos tucked in the storage compartment where the Gibson care kit, strap locks, two large lithium-ion batteries, and a vial of what is presumably smoke liquid are also kept.
