Item Details
Description
This is a Cripple Creek and Colorado Springs Railway Handlan-Buck switch lantern. Originally a 3 foot narrow gauge line, it was later changed to standard gauge. Welded tag is clearly cast with CC & CS. Handlan-Buck Manufacturers tag on the door of the lantern shows patent dates of 1887 through 1910. Chimney theat reads HANDLAN ST LOUIS opens easily. Has four rare Spredlite lenses, two red and two amber, marked as 30 with the arrows on each side of the center and with the Spredlite trademark on the top of each lens. All are in fine condition. Correct Handlan fount, brass burner, and the inner Pyrex chimney is also included, which is typically missing. Originally obtained by the consignor from the collection of a long time well-known Western/Colorado railroad enthusiast. Impossible to find, uber-rare, and a real treasure to be had for a Colorado and narrow gauge railroad enthusiasts!
