BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Gardner, MA. September 1, 1919, she was the daughter of George Daniel and Bernice (Lucas) Goodspeed and the beloved niece of Calvin and Flora Greenwood. Barbara received a diploma from Stoneleigh College in 1939 and from the Famous Artists Schools, Westport, Ct. in 1955.She was a freelance photographer in NYC from 1941 through 1952. Barbara and her lifelong friend Betsy Miller moved to Sherman in 1948 and restored their 1812 house where they trained and boarded poodles, had a mail order silkscreen greeting card business and restored antique china.Barbara has been an oil and watercolor fine artist since 1969, teaching painting technique workshops and mentoring many artists. Her paintings have been exhibited widely and included in nationally juried shows, winning awards. Barbara's work resides in about a dozen private collections and has been published in several art books. Barbara was President of the Kent Art Association and on the Board of Directors. She also directed the KAA Charitable Trust.
