George Overbury Pop Hart (1868-1933) printmaker and painter was born in Cairo, Illinois on May 10 1868. Pop Hart loved to draw, in fact his drawing lost him his first job working for his father. His job was to watch the glue boiling kettles and make sure that he let off the pressure when it got to high. Instead he was drawing, the kettles exploded, and he found himself on a train to New York City. In the 1890's he attended on and off the Chicago Art Institute and in 1907 the Academie Juilen in Paris. Pop Hart traveled the world and spent time in many far away places, everywhere he stopped printmaking and drawings were produced. His work is in almost every major museum collection.
