Description
Huichol People (Mexico), 20th century. Collection of two figural folk art yarn works (sometimes called yarn paintings) laid to wood board from the Huichol People of Northern and central Mexico, comprising: Cresencio Perez Robles (Mexican, 20th century), "Untitled (Lizard Pair)", yarn laid to board, depicting two lizards with stylized plants, with inscription and signature to verso; and Reymundo de la Rosa (Mexican, 20th century),"Untitled (Man with Snake, Bird and Lizard)", yarn laid to board, depicting a human figure surrounded by stylized plant life and various insects and animals, with inscription and signature to verso. Each approximately 23.75" x 23.5". Note: Huichol yarn paintings, or yarn works, are counted among the best known indigenous arts; yarn paintings are records of dreams and visions of Huichol Indian shamans.
