Item Details
Description
A tie-dye top and pair of stage-worn pants, dyed and worn by The Lovin' Spoonful founder, John Sebastian.

The top features a three-button neckline pink, yellow, orange, blue, and green tie-dye pattern, no size or label present, with holes in the back and fraying from age and use. The flared Levi's feature a blue, yellow, orange, and pink striped tie-dye pattern, no size present.

Sebastian wore the pants on the October 13, 1970 episode of the variety show Flip (Bob Henry Productions, Inc., 1970-1974), where he performed the songs "Loving You" and "You're A Big Boy Now" from his debut solo album, John B. Sebastian. In the early 1970s, Sebastian would often buy white denim Levi's jeans and experiment with tie-dye on them, which contributed to many of his stage-worn outfits including his iconic tie-dye getup worn to Woodstock.
