An exquisite and rare buffet cabinet in walnut veneer, inlaid with exotic wood in various ornate marquetry motifs - including stylized double-headed eagles, scrollwork flourishes, and flower heads - with rosewood-veneered half-column pilasters and unusual sawtooth-notched dentil molding at the upper trim. Likely German or Austrian, c. Early 18th Century. Key included. Dimensions: H 40" x W 60.25" x D 24". Condition: Minor sun fading throughout; stress cracks to legs and side panels, some joint separation. Old repairs to molding and veneer, some discolored wood varnish or stain to front of cabinet. A few small spots of worming to wood. One break and minor loss to decorative escutcheon. Locking mechanism functional, but may need small adjustment; interior pin becomes slightly misaligned when key is removed.
