A lacquered kazari’dana ??? (display cabinet), entirely coated with glossy black lacquer ???? (rôiro’urushi) featuring a serene zen garden motif ??? (karesansui).Designed with a staggered shelf, a pair of hinged doors, a single hinged door, an open display section with an open gallery, and two side-by-side drawers.The doors and drawer faces display a continuous scene of a vast traditional Japanese rock garden. Where imposing rock formations are encircled by rippled gravel, all underlined by gentle horizontal lines. Autumn leaves are scattered across the landscape.In multi-coloured hiramaki-e ??? (low-relief lacquer design) and takamaki-e ??? (high-relief lacquer design) accented with tiny golden pieces of Kirigane ?? (cut and inlaid pieces of gold leaf). The doors equipped with long triangular drop-pulls, and the drawers with ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles with decorative escutcheons with a butterfly design.Signed in the lower left corner ‘[…]ichi’ ‘[…]?’.Height 114.2 cm, Width 102.8 cm, Depth 40.8 cm.In a very good original condition with minimal traces of wear conform normal use.
