Description
Great, tall two-panel byôbu ??? (folding screen) adorned with two separate hanging scroll paintings ???? (kakejiku), each depicting a taka ? (hawks) on a perch. The perches feature delicate translucent silk drapes with a painting, of snow-covered pine trees ?? (matsu) and Tanabata festival bamboo respectively. These majestic birds are securely bound to their perches with decorative silk tethers.The polychrome paintings set on paper, and surrounded by a gold-speckled paper border. Framed with black lacquered wood.Total width: 154.2 cm (2 by 77.1 cm); Height: 170.4 cm.In a good restored condition, discolouration of the paper and border. Please note that this screen is a bit warped. This is not very noticeable when you see the screen from the front on the pictures.
