Description
A Federal Inlaid Walnut Chest of Drawers, Mid-Atlantic States, Circa 1800. Of good proportions. The rectangular top with molded edge, above four graduated beaded drawers with inlaid lozenge escutcheons, flanked by vertical strips of alternating mahogany and walnut framed in string inlay to the canted corners over a shaped skirt, raised on flaring 'French' feet. Yellow pine secondary wood with full depth dust boards.
Dimensions: Height 34 1/2in; width 38in; depth 21 1/2in; case width 36 1/4in.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.
Condition
Retaining an old dry finish. Structurally sound. Minor movement and losses to veneers throughout. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, surface scratches and small losses. Nicks and small losses to the edges along horizontal drawer dividers to front of case. The brass hardware appears to be original. No keys.
