Description
A Pennsylvania Chippendale Cherry Chest of Drawers, Third Quarter 18th Century. The rectangular two board top with applied molded edge and rear overhang, above four drawers graduated drawers, flanked by fluted quarter columns, above a base molding, raised on ogee bracket feet. Tulip poplar and pine secondary wood with full depth dust boards.
Dimensions: Height 33in; width 39 1/2in; depth 22in; case width 37 1/4in.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.
Condition
Structurally sound. Retaining an old surface. General wear, nicks and small losses commensurate with age and use. Some old filling-in to cracks on top. Vertical age cracks to the side of case. The right quarter column with age cracks and shrinkage. Retaining original feet and glueblocks to the underside. Toning to brasses;Â appear to be original, no additional holes to drawer fronts. No keys.
