19th C. JAPANESE KATANA SIGNED HOSOKAWA MASAYOSHI
Early 19th Century Japanese Katana by Hosokawa Masayoshi. Shinogi-Zukuri style blade with fuller. Visible Hamon. Kasane: 8.7 mm. Moto-Haba: 31.8 mm. Decorated, brass Habaki and Tsuba. Brass Seppas and decorated Fuchi. Rayskin wrapped wooden Tsuka with brass Paulownia Menuki. Dated 2nd month of Bunsei 1830. Decorated wooden Saya with brass fittings and rope Sageo.

Condition
Good. Light to moderate oxidation, scratches and dark spots on the blade. Light nicks in the blade edge. Moderate oxidation to the Tsuba. Tsuka is broken near the Kashira. Sageo is held on by wire.
