William Barton Rogers was a 19th-century American geologist from Virginia who, in 1835, began a geological survey of his home state. Over the course of the decade, Rogers would amass countless findings and reports of his geological studies in the Virginias, reports that would ultimately be printed in book form following his death.
These reports cover everything from the growth of stalactites in caves to unconformity of Azoic rocks; from railroad guides to physical structures of the Appalachian mountains; from characteristics of coal and iron ore to composition of Magnesian limestones, and so much more.
This 1884 first edition includes impressive, color folding maps in cover pockets in the front and back of the book.
