Oil on wooden panel painting, attributed to Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, 1884 to 1976, a German expressionist painter and printmaker, founding member of Die Brucke group. The artwork depicts a portrait of a woman flanked by a dim male face on the left and a pathway on the right. Titled Two Faces. Dated ca. 1914. Signed by the artist in the lower right. Provenance: collection of Peter Jina, Delft, The Netherlands, private collection in Pacific Palisades, CA. Collectible Modernist Fine Art.
Dimensions: 12 x 27 1/2 in. All measurements are approximate.
Condition
Overall good vintage condition. Paint loss as the result of frame rub; light craquelure in sitter's lips; two large scratches in the center of the composition; two areas of paint loss in the center of the painting; board is significantly warped. Refer to photos. Sold As Is.
