Description
A Scottish Victorian gold mounted agate vinaigrette, c.1850, of scalloped barrel shape; the body composed of multicoloured agate/jasper panels, the hinged cover set with an oval mixed cut citrine with facing up pavilion, 18mm x 23mm, to an internal hinged openwork scroll design grill. 5.8cm x 3.5cm, Unmarked. Yellow metal tested as 9ct gold with a high-carat gilding to the interior. 74.83g Provenance: Maurice 'Dick' Turpin, Barons Keep, London W14.
