Description
1839 John Quincy Adams Jubilee of US Constitution & Declaration of Independence
John Quincy Adams served as the sixth President of the United States in the 1820s. During his presidency, he wrote hundreds of letters seeking to expose members of the National Intelligencer who were thought to dissolve the Union and establish the Confederacy. One of his best works, however, one of his most important bits of correspondence came years after his presidency – the Jubilee of the Constitution.
In this discourse, delivered on the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of George Washington, Adams discussed the origins of Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Articles of Confederation. This 1839 first edition is highly rare and an important piece of American politics.
