Description

1840s. A dapper gentleman wearing a large bow tie and spectacles that appear to have hinged lenses. Pressed paper case. (SS8)

Condition

Clear image; case hinges are detached. NOTE ADDED 11/2: there appears to have been some moderate oxidation to the plate during the past 6 weeks (since it was photographed). The seal appears completely intact and the brass preserve has not been removed. Please see the added photo that illustrates this.
