Mitchell Auctions #29 Rare Coins & Medals
Mitchell Auctions Sale #29 offers an outstanding selection of numismatic material within a broad range of collecting interests. Among the contents is the largest selection that we have ever offered of world countermarked coinage, highlighted by a particularly rare El Salvador Type III 1839 Volcano Countermark on a Peru 1832 Silver Real. The World Coinage section includes the largest grouping of Chinese coins and ingots that we have ever had the pleasure of handling, as well as particularly strong consignments of Central American, South American and Spanish Colonial Silver Coinage. An excellent grouping of early medals is highlighted by a 1694 "Korn Jude" silver medal, a very rare 1748 Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle bronze medal, and a simply splendid Martin Van Buren large format Silver Indian Peace Medal with a noteworthy pedigree. The U.S. coinage section includes an abundance of key date coins in a variety of types from Lincoln Cents to Morgan Dollars (including three 1893-S silver dollars), as well as a number of interesting mint errors and gold coins. Be sure to thoroughly review the contents of this sale, as there is truly something for everyone in this auction!
