Fern Forest is “up country”, located at an elevation of around 2,500 feet. The standard sized Fern Forest lot has dimensions of 120' X 1045.44'. This area is abundant with palms, ferns, bird of paradise, wild orchids and ginger blossoms, pine trees and various exotic plants creating a lush and tropical oasis. The drive to Fern Forest Vacation Estates is absolutely beautiful! As you enter the subdivision you'll see moderate, well-groomed homes lining both sides of the street. All main roads located within this subdivision are paved and well maintained. In addition electricity and phone lines run throughout this subdivision to provide service to each lot. As you proceed further into the subdivision you'll notice there is a slight elevation. Many roads in this area are a combination of grass and gravel. Although they are not publicly maintained they are still very accessible and can be traveled by any type vehicle, four-wheel drive is not necessary. This is a quiet subdivision and the residents are very private, their homes surrounded by thick, lush tropical gardens. Those residing further back in the subdivision tend to prefer the privacy and seclusion the overgrown foliage offers. So extreme is the overgrowth it often overtakes and prevents any view of the home sites that exist beyond. Within the Fern Forest Vacation Estates are a small community center, park, swimming pool a well-maintained baseball field and various denomination churches. Road maintenance is approx. $45.00 per year while property taxes are approx. $100.00 per year. Water supply is virtually rain catchment. Meaning run off of rain from rooftops into tanks. This water is then filtered and pumped into the domestic water system.
