Description
Sino-Tibetan wood carved saddle with an iron covered pommel that ascends to a fancy reticulated face depicting dragons with gold overlay, coral and turquoise inlaid stones. The fancy gold overlay and inlaid stones pattern repeats on the cantle. Remnants of Gold overlay remains on the buttons holding the silk covered wool seat. Although faded embroidered patterns remain in the silk which appears to have been originally red and has . The wood carved frame in hand hewn and is still held together in some places by the original rawhide straps. Some newer string ties have been added. Based on the wood tooling along this can easily be early 18th c. . Red wax import stamp bottom.
