Description
Circa 1850. Attributed to David Drake working at Stoney Bluff. The jar has excellent form with nice high handles on an ovoid body with a rich alkaline glaze. One small chip to the rim 1 1/2" long otherwise this jar is in excellent condition. H13 1/4" W13" This jar was recently discovered within an outbuilding of Cathlene Hudson?s farm in Kershaw County South Carolina. This jar was used by the family in daily life more than likely descended through the family. The Hudsons are an African American family here in the Midlands of South Carolina. We are honored to offer this jar on behalf of their family.
