Item Details
Description
Originally designed and exhibited at the Paris 1937 Worlds Fair, this iconic piece currently occupies permanent status in the Cooper Hewitt Museum, and the National Design Museum of the Smithsonian Institute. Made by the Saint Gobain Company of France, it was marketed as the "Radiaver". The cord protruding from the back is for both the heater and the lamp inside the textured satinglass base. The heater is a simple element of metallic tape that travels through the two pieces of glass, emitting heat. Both work and all glass elements are in very good condition. Needs some cleaning. Measures approx. 20" high x 17" wide x 5" deep. Very decorative and iconic Art Deco piece!
