Description
Large antique cachepot in green and yellow glazed terracotta by Christopher Dresser for SCI Laveno, Italy. The piece features highly stylized fluted accents and scrolled handles, incorporating elements of both Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs. Società Ceramica Italiana di Laveno was founded in 1856 with this cachepot dating back to ca. 1910. This beautiful piece was featured in a 1990s issue of "Architectural Digest Italy" where it was a centerpiece of the interior design of one of Italy's most beautiful villas. Very good antique condition with minor wear, crackling according to age, and one repair to the base (see pictures). Measures approx. 17" high x 23" wide x 19 1/2" deep. Incredibly decorative centerpiece. Provenance: From the collection of the late MASSIMO COMOLI, celebrated opera set designer and architect, best known for working with the late Gianni Versace on the redesign of the iconic Villa Casa Casuarina in Miami Beach (formerly known as the Versace Mansion). WE DO NOT OFFER IN-HOUSE SHIPPING FOR THIS PIECE BUT WILL ORGANIZE THIRD-PARTY SHIPPING FOR YOU ON REQUEST. FOR SOUTH FLORIDA WE ALSO OFFER PERSONAL DELIVERY.
