Description
Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer, ca. 10th to 13th century CE. Enveloped in a beautiful green patina, each buckle features thick straps on the verso to be worn on a belt or as another ornament. The wheel-like form of these may be associated with the dharmachakra or wheel of dharma: a widespread symbol used in Buddhism that represents Buddha's teaching and universal moral order.
