Description
A Companion Pair of Pennsylvania Chippendale Cherry Pembroke Tables, Fourth Quarter 18th Century. Each having a rectangular top with hinged drop leaves above a molded frieze to either end, fitted with a single dovetailed drawer with incising to front, raised on Marlborough legs with inner chamfering, joined by a X-Stretcher. Tulip poplar secondary wood and oak flying rails.
Dimensions: Height of larger 28 1/4in; width closed 20 1/2in; width open 43in; depth 36 1/2in; Height of smaller 28in; width closed 20 1/2in; width open 39 3/4in; depth 34 1/2in.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.
Condition
Each table is structurally sound. Retaining old dry surfaces with warm color. General marks, wear, abrasions and surface scratches throughout. The brass bail pulls appears to be original; toning to metalwork. One table with several glue blocks lacking and replaced to underside.
