Description
This is a rare Maine Central Railroad Peter Gray train order lamp. Has two clear radial type Fresnel lenses, one of which has a few chips, but is intact as a whole. Door clearly shows M.C.R.R. on the welded tag, and also has the brass Peter Gray manufacturers tag, which shows a 1911 patent date. Correct burner and fount inside. Difficult to find piece! This is one of several lanterns from the estate of Ray Canole, a well-known collector and restorer of railroad lanterns from Michigan. He has done exquisite restorations for many years. Excellent paintwork!
