Old African carved wooden figure, Baule - Bete. Ivory Coast. Late 19th - Early 20th Century.
Tribally-used male ancestor figure with prominent scarifications and a strong presence. The face carved in the traditional Baule style and the body more in the traditional Bete style. These two tribes live near to each other (a combination of styles is quite probable ... a Bete carver living with Baule etc.)

Condition
One foot has been replaced (but not sufficiently colored). Square hole in the bottom of the right foot (for a previous mounting). Encrusted fed patina with surface wear overall. Please see the photographs.
