Vladimir Nemukhin (Russian, 1925 - 2016), Nonconformist oil and mixed media, collage on paper laid on canvas painting "Playing cards," 1965. signed in Cyrillic and dated '65' (lower right). Provenance: Purchased from Alexander Glezer in 1992.
Note: Vladimir Nikolaevich Nemukhin was one of the most renowned Russian postwar modernists, part of the so-called "Sixties generation." In Soviet times he and his peers worked in opposition to the official style of Socialist Realism and their art came to be known as "underground art" or "Nonconformism."
