Description
A Scottish Victorian gold mounted agate vinaigrette, c.1850, of scalloped barrel shape, the body composed of varicoloured banded agate and jasper panels, the hinged cover set with an oval faceted citrine, 22mm x 27mm, to an internal hinged openwork grill, unhinged and bent. 4.2cm x 5.4cm, Maker's mark PW. Unmarked yellow metal tested as approximately 9ct gold. 97.63g Provenance: Maurice 'Dick' Turpin, Barons Keep, London W14.
