Description: A FINE LATE 19TH CENTURY VITRINE IN THE MANNER OF FRANCOIS LINKEthe French ormolu mounted, kingwood display cabinet of breakfront form with brèche d'Alep marble tops above a central glazed door enclosing three glass shelves and a burgundy velvet-lined interior, flanked by glazed sides, over Vernis Martin painted panels of figures in the style of Watteau, on cabriole legs with scrolling gilt bronze sabots,209cm high x 165cm wide x 50cm deepFootnote:This vitrine is very similar to Francois Linke's kingwood, vernis martin and ormolu mounted vitrine, index number 76. Model no. 76 is thought to have been conceived as early as the 1880s, but is first recorded in Linke’s registers in 1902 for a vernis Martin example, and the vernis martin was painted by Carl Guilbert.
