Marks: "Tiffany Studios New York 1435-101 1904"
Age: 1904.
Description: Acorn pattern shade on a non Tiffany three socket art nouveau bronze stick base. The shade is signed "Tiffany Studios New York 1435-101" and has the date "1904" scratched in.
Size: 21" H x 16" Diameter.
Weight: 13 Lbs
Condition: Very good.
History: Unquestionably the best-known lamp-making enterprise in America at the turn of the century was the decorative glass and brass or bronze lamp works made under the direction of Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1943). Tiffany Studios was located in New York and active between 1902 and 1938. By 1896 Tiffany had introduced his famous stained-glass lamps and his iridescent hand blown glass known as favrille. Some of the bases for his stained-glass shades were acquired from pottery firms such as Grueby and others. However, most of the lamp bases were made of cast bronze and sculptured in the spirit of the Art Nouveau style or within a classical idiom.
