Ca 1840 likely Washington Georgia or Edgefield District, South Carolina . Excellent cup having a well formed handle with tall placement leading to the body with ovoid squat body with flared foot and rim. The center of the body has three incised lines at the center. The alkaline glazed body has a nice honey tone with some slight tones of iron bleed or spotting. The piece has no restoration and is in nice condition. The top edge has a very early tight hairline 3/4" into the upper body in three areas. These are possibly firing flaws as the glaze skips this portion of the rim. Near the base of the handle there is also a very tight hairline also very early and a possible firing flaw. H3 3/8" W4 3/4"
