Jake McCord was a self taught African American artist who began painting in the mid 1980's. He installed artworks on his front porch to be viewed by passers-by, and refused to sell them until he felt they had been seen by an appropriate number of people. His art takes inspiration from his life in Thompson, Georgia, as well as from the multiple television sets he was said to have kept running in his house at all times.
